Spambite takes steps to stop spam servers dead!
Beginning Oct 14th, 2003, Spambite has begun actively hunting for spam servers and shutting them down. This process does not eliminate the spam mail from reaching everyone's email servers, but it does stop it all from getting to our users.

With this new service we will begin the daily monitoring of our logs and block the mail servers responsible for sending out spam mail. Users wishing to continue receiving mail from these servers can do so by adding an entry to their whitelist which will override the blocked servers, but the rest of the users will not see anything at all.

The primary reason for this step is to reduce the amount of time and space requirements for users to maintain their block lists. The earlier processes stopped the spam but still showed it in each users block lists causing them to sort through it in order to determine whether they had legit mail they wanted to push through.

The new processes will cause everyones block lists to become shorter and allow an easier view of what is going on.

We hope everyone enjoys the shorter lists!
